Carrera a por la Paz

Yesterday will certainly go down as one of the more meaningful days of my life. I was fortunate to represent the Tree of Life Center down in Hermosillo, Mexico for Carrera a por la Paz...Run for Peace. Runners from the 4 cardinal directions would start 20k, 12miles, away from downtown Hermosillo. Each group would wear a different color and represent a different element. I ran from the north, we wore red. West wore yellow, south-white, and the east wore black. The participants would run about a 1/2 mile holding the peace poles, and then switch off. I decided I would run the entire distance. It was perfect weather and felt the need to carry the Tree of Life staff the entire way. The Tree represents the Yellow Horse clan. Gabriel, a 4 time Sun dancer was initiated into the Lakota Tribe and was given the name Yellow Horse.
So, the central point this run was the 30th Parallel. This point lines up with the Himalayas, Israel, China making it a very energetic line through the world. At this point we would hold the ceremony where we where lead in song, dance and prayer that all beings would find peace in this world. A few native elders, pictured above were there to speak. I was honored to be asked to speak as a representative of the Tree. Although the language barrier kept me from understanding all that was said, I could feel the magic and peace within everybody there and knew the over all purpose of what was said. Like Gabriel says, "We create peace by being peace."
These life experiences that I have been able to partake in over the last few years as proven to me just how beautiful this life is. There is so much to get out of life through meeting new people, seeing different cultures, and being courageous to step out of your comfort zone. I would have never expected to be where I am today nor would I thought I would be taking part in sweet lodges, peace runs or living on a raw food diet. All these events are lined up along my journey and help teach me to show compassion and love for all beings. I am so grateful to all those who I have met on this journey thus far and have given a bit of wisdom to me. God Bless, and May Peace Prevail on Earth!
