With These Feet...

I am now only a few days away from the Javelina Jundred. On a taper run today, many thoughts ran through my mind. Of course some of the obvious questions, "Am I ready", "Why the hell do you want to put yourself through potentially a lot of pain?". So I thought about this for a while. Why is it that I am choosing to do what only a small percentage of the worlds population have ever tempted and completed?
One thing I can say is when I set forth on a goal, I am full on. I have been thinking of a major endurance run since the moment I met Mr. Bimble. My life has transformed so much in the last few years, that I know deep in my heart that whatever I set out to do, I can accomplish. Sure there are factors that can take me out of the race, but physically and mentally and courageously I feel stronger than ever. I am maintaining a live food diet that will keep my body strong and aid in my recovery. Being amongst beautiful people daily raises my vibration and keeps me positive. Quiet time and spiritual practices open my body to deal with all the emotions that may come up during these races.
This type of training is what will bring me to the finish line. Sure I have been running and exercising. Maybe not enough, but enough to keep up with my endurance and enough to keep my body at a level of high performance.
Ego comes up at this point. Am I going out to to run a 100 miles just to be selfish? Well in a way I am. I want to prove that we can push our bodies beyond normal limits, and do so on a raw/vegan diet. Most runners or athletes for that matter, don't believe it is possible. Take a moment to look at Scott Jurek and all he has accomplished as a vegan. If at any point during this race, I feel I need cooked food to take me further, I am out!! I will not sacrifice my beliefs to take me to the finish line. It is not even an option. I have prepared foods and drink that will simulate what all the name brand chemical additive products on the market claim to do.
Here is my fuel plan-
smoothies of
bananas
fresh barhi dates
coconut water
celery
-maca root
-bee pollen
granola-
buckwheat
hemp
pumpkin seeds
GREENS-
spirulina
fresh wild green powder
chorella
Siberian Ginseng
Yerba mate
Cacao, Yes Chocolate!!!
There are certainly a lot of different factors that can arise during the race. You never now what will happen come raceday. God willing, I will be strong and able to focus on my goals. With the montra of "Constant forward momentum", I will simply put one foot in front of the other until that finish line is crossed!!!
